Would you pay $1500 to drive a Huracan/NSX/488 for a day?

Not without a racetrack.

$1500 for 100 miles. Lol nope.

Nope. I’d be way too stressed. A car of that caliber seems like something that I’d need to drive extensively to get comfortable with.

nope, especially not the NSX. I could see paying that for a classic, or maybe some insured track time.

Agreed, the NSX isn’t anything special compared to the other two.

No. Not at all. That would just be stressful and you don’t have a racetrack to open it up on. That and I don’t feel like I need to impress anybody.

Depends on the terms / roads available locally. My wife and I rented a Lotus Elise for 24 hours and 200 miles. Hit up backroads near Santa Cruz for 180 of those 200 miles and it was PURE BLISS.

*Should also state the rental cost of the Elise was $350

I was lucky enough to score a test drive in an NSX. It....was nothing all that special IMHO. Incredibly fast, don’t get me wrong, but not particularly exciting if i’m being honest.

In a perfect world, I actually think the NSX would be a great daily. But the limits are so high, nothing you throw at it really feels interesting or challenging.

This is cheaper I believe (though you have to fly to Japan)

https://fun2drive-japan.com/car-tours/ultimate_hakone_drive/

Car choices include Hokosuka and Kenmuri Skyline GT-R’s, a TME Evo VI, MKIV supra, A 930 Turbo, AE86 as well as old OR new NSX’s.

Hell no. Would rather save a bit more money and buy something cheap to hoon and own outright.

My wife once got me one of those “drive a ferrari on a track* !” (*really an autocross course) deals on groupon or something like that - I didn’t even go to that after reading horror stories and concerns around insurance risk etc.

If we’re talking zero liability, hoon to your heart’s content, here’s a race track to let loose on - then maybe I’d do it for $750, but I know that’s unlikely to happen.

I hadn’t thought of it in those terms. The school I used to teach at is getting $100/hr dry for Warriors, so with fuel it’s around $150.

The Cherokee that I fly most often is $110/hr with fuel. I have access to another for $80/hr dry. They charge around $150/hr for 172s wet.

The going rate for exotics is usually about $800-1200 a day for 100-150 miles, but that usually includes insurance. So I would be a no. But not by a ton.

I would consider spending that much for the Lambo or the Ferrari rental . But not the NSX.

But note that you can come to the Toronto area and rent the same thing for less:

Instructors are $50/hr. The trick is a low initial cost and an in-house mechanic for maintenance/upgrades. It also still has steam gauges. The all-glass birds cost a lot more per hour.

Nothing wrong with steam gauges.
